Background

Balochistan remains the most vulnerable province in Pakistan, with the highest levels of food insecurity, malnutrition, and poverty. Food insecurity across districts is at a crisis level.i High prices, flooding drought, livestock disease and death, post-harvest loss are straining the food system and impacting livelihood opportunities for the food and agricultural sector. These drivers are adversely affecting food production, food affordability and food availability.

To understand the main challenges to the food system, the Food Department in Balochistan has established a series of technical working groups (TWGs) to address various thematic areas in relation to the food supply chain.
