The Rockland County Department of Social Services is searching for a candidate to perform professional legal work of a moderately complex nature involving the representation of the County Department of Social Services in Family Court proceedings as well as providing day-to-day direction to a small number of lower-level attorneys within the department.

Duties include representing the Department in a variety of relatively complex legal matters, in a wide range of Family Court proceedings and related matters and any appellate work which may be tangentially involved, providing legal advice and assistance on complex matters, providing direction to other staff attorneys, collaborating with the Director of Legal Services and other legal personnel, handling matters pertaining to Family Court and other proceedings, drafting legal memorandums and opinions, representing the Department in various court cases, hearings and other legal proceedings as well as in various meetings, forums, seminars...
