The Aachen Police Headquarters is the district police authority of the Ministry of the Interior of North Rhine-Westphalia and is responsible for the Aachen city region with the cities of Aachen, Alsdorf, Baesweiler, Eschweiler, Herzogenrath, Monschau, Stolberg and Würselen as well as the municipalities of Simmerath and Roetgen. The Aachen city region is characterized by its shared borders with the Netherlands and Belgium. This location in the so-called "three-country corner" poses particular challenges for the Aachen police.
