The role requires the completion of all facets of marine fitting (including general) works as directed by Supervisors. The position is accountable for ensuring works are delivered in full, in the required time and to the required standards. The tradesman is responsible for keeping themselves and their workmates safe as well as maintaining a clean, tidy and productive work environment.What's InvolvedConduct marine fitting (or general) tasks as directed IAW supplied Work Pack/Job Tickets.Inspection, testing and servicing of on-board mechanical systems.Inspection, analysis and recording of critical measurements, data or information during the process of undertaking mechanical refurbishment works.Completing works in the required time frames and if unachievable, informing line Supervisors / Managers immediately.During periods of reduced trade specific works, assist in other trade-based sectors of the business as reasonably directed by Supervisors / Managers.Understand, embrace, implement and comply with all Austal Policies and Procedures relating to HSEQ.You’ll needEssentialConstruction White Card.Trade Qualification - Fitter & Turner, Machinist, Diesel Fitter (Heavy), Pipe Fitter.Demonstrated experience in marine refit / repair or heavy industrial.High Risk Works - Confined space / Working at heights.Capable of performing work in a safe and acceptable manner.Demonstrate adequate theoretical knowledge.Ability to use standard tools and equipment related to the trade.Possess good time management skills and ability to meet set targets.DesirableHR Licenses - Forklift / EWP / Dogging / Rigging.First Attack Fire Fighting Training / First Aid / Confined Space / Working at Heights.Previous experience in Marine / Ship repair or Heavy IndustryWhy AustalCompetitive compensation and benefits package.Professional development and training opportunities.A supportive and dynamic work environment.Opportunities for career advancement within our growing organisation.Our global team is guided by a universal set of values that describe the focus of our efforts.
