Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada requires a Temporary Foreign Worker Program work permit supported by a positive Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) for truck drivers, with processing fee of CAD $155. Exemptions apply for CUSMA citizens with job offers. Permits are valid up to 2 years for low-wage streams.

Job Bank states a secondary school diploma is required for 65% of transport truck driver positions, with 6 months to 1 year of related experience preferred.
