Flexible cleaning work

As per GOV.UK, the National Living Wage for cleaning staff aged 21 and over is £12.80 per hour from 1 April 2026. Workers aged 18 to 20 receive £10.00 per hour and those aged 16 to 17 receive £7.55 per hour with no exceptions for part-time cleaning roles. Employers must pay this rate for all hours worked including overtime at the same rate.

As per GOV.UK, cleaning roles below RQF level 3 do not qualify for the Skilled Worker visa and require alternative routes such as the Seasonal Worker visa or existing right to work. Applicants must hold a valid visa with work permission before starting any cleaning job. Employers cannot sponsor cleaning positions under standard skilled routes in 2026.

As per GOV.UK, no formal qualifications are required for standard cleaning positions but applicants must be at least 16 years old. Some contracts require a basic DBS check for roles in schools or care settings completed before employment starts. Prior experience is not mandatory but can be verified through references.

As per GOV.UK, applicants must provide proof of right to work such as a passport or biometric residence permit along with a National Insurance number. A completed application form, address history for the last five years and two references are also required. DBS certificate is mandatory for regulated cleaning environments.
