Location: Central London

Working Hours: Zero Hours – Holiday & Sickness Cover

Reporting to: Contract Supervisor / Regional Operations Manager

Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, reliable and flexible Relief Security Officer to join our award winning Street Team based in Central London who work within one of the Business Improvement Districts (BID). This role is ideal for someone looking to cover holiday and sickness shifts, including short-notice cover, and who is happy to work exclusively outdoors.

The role is focused on improving safety, reassurance and overall perceptions across the BID area by maintaining a highly visible, uniformed presence. Acting as the “eyes and ears” of the BID, the post holder will proactively identify and respond to issues, helping to deter crime and provide reassurance to businesses, residents and visitors alike. This includes addressing incidents of crime, anti-social behaviour, nuisance activity and environmental concerns in a professional and measured manner.

In addition, the role requires the effective collection and sharing of high-quality intelligence with partner agencies to support a coordinated approach to safety and security. The post holder will also deliver a welcoming, ambassadorial service, engaging positively with the public and local businesses while promoting the area. A key aspect of the role is supporting counter-terrorism awareness and contributing to the overall resilience of the BID through vigilance, communication and adherence to best practice.

This position would suit someone with minimal other commitments who is happy to be called upon at short notice and can work flexibly when required.

Additional Information:

You will be joining a small but exceptional team of Security professionals - being able to work with a positive, can-do attitude as part of the is essential.

Being able to speak Arabic is not essential, but advantageous.

The role included the provisions of PPE (including stab-resistant vests) to be worn when on patrol. As this role involves outdoor work – full uniform and wet weather PPE will also be provided.

This is a physically demanding role involving regular foot patrols throughout the BID area, with patrol officers typically covering at least 30,000 steps during a shift. Candidates must be able to meet these physical requirements.

Shift availability will vary depending on site needs. This role is ideal for someone seeking flexible work without fixed weekly hours.

Must be able to travel to Central London

Key Responsibilities:
• Act as a BID Warden, proactively addressing antisocial behaviour within the BID area.
• Build and maintain positive working relationships with BID businesses, premises, and levy payers.
• To maintain a visible high-profile presence and protect the safety of the area, people, goods, and property.
• Identify and report suspicious activity, security concerns, and environmental hazards to the appropriate authorities and emergency services.
• Liaise effectively with BID representatives, clients, and local businesses.
• Referring vulnerable people to appropriate agencies and conducting morning & evening counts of those rough sleeping and where.
• Manage and process lost property in accordance with procedures.
• Reporting environmental issues including waste, fly tipping, graffiti, water leaks, broken traffic/streetlights, damaged street furniture.
• Dealing with pedicabs
• Respond promptly and professionally to requests for assistance from local businesses and stakeholders.
• Carry out regular patrols across the BID area to monitor activity and provide a reassuring presence.
• Accurately record incidents, patrols, and daily activities using electronic reporting systems.
• Respond effectively to emergencies, incidents, and requests for support.
• Investigate and respond to reports of theft, working closely with businesses and relevant authorities.
• Monitor, record, and report incidents of antisocial behaviour and organised begging.
• Work collaboratively with the Police and other partner agencies to support crime prevention and community safety initiatives.
• Maintain professional and effective communication with customers, contractors, visitors, and members of the public.
• Assist with any other reasonable duties or responsibilities as requested by the BID.
