As per the Chief Labour Commissioner, the minimum wage for a skilled welder in Delhi Zone I is ₹30,500 per month as of January 2026, comprising basic rate of ₹25,000 plus Variable Dearness Allowance of ₹5,500. For highly skilled welders, it rises to ₹33,200 per month. Overtime is paid at twice the ordinary rate for hours exceeding 48 per week.

A 1-year ITI certificate in Welder (Gas & Electric) trade from a NCVT-affiliated institute is mandatory for entry-level positions. No prior experience is needed for apprenticeships, which last 12 months under the Apprentices Act 1961 with stipend of ₹7,000-₹9,000 per month. Post-apprenticeship, 1-2 years experience is preferred for regular jobs.

Register on the National Career Service (NCS) portal using Aadhaar and upload your ITI Welder certificate, PAN, and bank details. Search for 'Welder' jobs, apply to 50+ vacancies daily, and attend virtual interviews scheduled within 30 days. Selected candidates receive job orders via SMS and email.

Under the OSH Code 2020, welders work maximum 8 hours per day and 48 hours per week, with overtime at double rate. Annual leave is 15 days after 240 days of work, plus 8 days casual/sick leave. Benefits include EPF contribution of 12% each from employer and employee on up to ₹15,000 monthly wage and ESI coverage for wages up to ₹21,000.
