Additional information about services and project examples is available on the company’s website.Role Description The Paving Supervisor is a full-time, on-site role based in Tauranga, responsible for overseeing day-to-day paving operations and ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and to quality standards. This role coordinates crews, equipment, and materials for asphalt and chip seal surfacing jobs, and monitors work progress to maintain smooth finishes and accurate levels. The Paving Supervisor reviews project plans, sets work schedules, assigns tasks, and provides hands-on guidance to team members on site. The role includes maintaining safety compliance, conducting site inspections, resolving issues, and communicating with project managers, clients, and subcontractors about timelines, constraints, and progress. The Paving Supervisor also supports cost control, basic documentation of work completed, and continuous improvement of paving methods and workflows.Qualifications Demonstrated experience supervising paving or civil construction crews, with strong skills in coordinating daily site activities and managing resources.Proficiency in reading and understanding construction plans, specifications, and job instructions related to asphalt and chip seal surfacing.Solid knowledge of paving techniques, compaction requirements, equipment operation oversight, and surface quality standards.Strong commitment to health and safety, including implementing safe work practices, conducting toolbox talks, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.Effective communication and leadership skills, with the ability to give clear instructions, provide feedback, and work collaboratively with diverse team members and stakeholders.Good organizational and problem-solving abilities, including scheduling, prioritizing tasks, and responding to changing site conditions.Basic numeracy and record-keeping skills for monitoring quantities, tracking progress, and supporting project reporting.Valid driver’s license and ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and on active construction sites.Previous experience in road construction, surfacing, or related fields in New Zealand is highly beneficial.Relevant trade or construction qualification, or equivalent practical experience, is an advantage but not mandatory.
