As per the Ministry of Labour, the minimum wage for unskilled Omani packing workers is OMR 360 per month as of January 2026. Expatriate packing workers require a minimum salary of OMR 250 per month for work permit approval. Overtime pay is OMR 1.25 times the regular hourly rate, calculated at OMR 2.12 per hour based on the minimum.

According to the Ministry of Labour, employers must offer at least OMR 250 per month for packing jobs (unskilled labour category) to sponsor a work visa as of 2026. The work permit is issued for 2 years and requires employer sponsorship through the MOL portal. Visa stamping by ROP costs OMR 20 and is valid for 2 years.

No formal education or qualifications are required for entry-level packing jobs as classified under unskilled labour by the Ministry of Labour in 2026. Employers prefer 1-2 years of warehouse or manufacturing experience but hire without it for Omanis and expatriates. Applicants under 21 years must provide parental consent.

Required documents include a passport valid for at least 6 months, 4 recent passport-sized photos, medical fitness report from an approved clinic costing OMR 30, police character certificate, and employer job offer letter. Applications are submitted online via the Ministry of Labour e-services portal. Processing is completed within 7 working days upon approval.
