As per the Ministry of Labour, the minimum salary for expatriate welders in the private sector is 450 OMR per month as of January 2026. This covers basic wage for grade 12-14 classifications, with overtime at 125% of hourly rate up to 4 hours daily and 150% thereafter. Employers must pay via Wage Protection System monthly.

Foreign welders require a 2-year Work Residence Visa (Article 13 Visa) sponsored by an approved Omani employer. The visa issuance fee is 20 OMR, plus 12 OMR annual labour card fee as of 2026. Medical fitness test from ROP-approved clinics costs 40 OMR and is mandatory before stamping.

A minimum of 3 years verifiable welding experience and vocational diploma or equivalent certification attested by MOFA is required for MOL approval. Welders under 21 or over 60 years are ineligible. Basic English/Arabic proficiency and passing skill assessment are mandatory.

Submit passport valid 6 months, 4 colored photos, attested experience/education certificates, MOL-approved employment contract, police clearance, and GAMCA medical report. Employer handles submission via MOL e-services portal within 7 days of job offer. Processing fee is 10 OMR per application.
