Experienced Welder

As per the Ministry of Labour, the minimum basic wage for non-Qatari private sector workers including welders is QAR 1,000 per month as of 2026. Employers must provide food allowance of QAR 300 and accommodation valued at minimum QAR 500 monthly. Overtime pay is 125% of basic hourly wage for first 8 hours weekly excess.

MOL-approved standard contracts for welders with 3+ years experience specify QAR 3,000 to QAR 5,000 gross monthly salary including allowances as of January 2026. Entry-level welders start at QAR 2,200. These rates exclude end-of-service gratuity of 21 days' wage per year of service.

Employers apply for work permit via MOL portal after job offer, valid 1 month for entry visa; then Residence Permit (RP) from MOI valid 2 years renewable up to 5 years for skilled welders as of 2026. Applicants need clean police record and medical fitness certificate. Free zones offer expedited 5-year visas without sponsor change restrictions.

Work permit requires vocational diploma in welding or equivalent plus minimum 2 years documented experience for skilled welder category as of 2026. High school graduates with trade test certificate qualify for junior roles with 1 year experience. Degrees from unrecognized institutions are rejected.
