Role Overview

The Maintenance Electrician will be responsible for coordinating, scheduling, and executing maintenance activities across multiple solar sites nationwide. This role combines hands-on electrical work with administrative and planning responsibilities, ensuring optimal system performance, minimal downtime, and adherence to safety and compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities
• Plan, schedule, and track preventative and reactive maintenance across multiple sites
• Coordinate maintenance runs and ensure timely completion of service activities
• Perform electrical maintenance, fault finding, and repairs on solar PV systems and associated infrastructure
• Monitor system performance and identify potential issues before failures occur
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, reports, and site data
• Liaise with internal teams, project managers, and clients regarding maintenance schedules and site performance
• Ensure all work complies with relevant safety regulations and electrical standards
• Provide on-site leadership when required and support junior technicians
• Assist with installations and commissioning where necessary

Minimum Requirements
• Electrical qualification (N2/N3 or equivalent)
• 3-phase qualification preferred (or strong 3-phase experience)
• Proven experience in electrical maintenance (solar experience advantageous)
• Ability to manage administrative tasks (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel extensively across South Africa
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills

Advantageous
• Trade Test (Red Seal)
• Experience with solar PV systems, inverters, and battery storage
• Knowledge of pumps and motors
• Understanding of maintenance planning and scheduling
