Job Title: Instrument Technician

Department: Engineering

Location: Paarl, Western Cape

Salary: Up to R55 000 per month + 13th cheque

Start Date: 1 July 2026

About the Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all instrumentation, control systems, visualization and information management is performed optimally and aligned with operational and reporting requirements.

Important Requirement: Experience within the Food & Beverage industry is essential.

Responsibilities:
• Responsible for the maintenance, management and optimization of all instrumentation, control systems, and SCADA visuals, industrial networking and production information management on all sites.
• Managing requests from all parties to ensure the system remains optimal and fit for purpose in line with world class manufacturing standards.
• Managing the critical spares requirement for all electronics and instrumentation.
• Initiate and execute innovations and process improvements, either through continuous improvements or larger projects.
• Managing and negotiating with external suppliers to ensure cost effective management of instrumentation and controls.
• Ensure production and equipment data and information are available where and when it is required.
• Implementing of best-in-class strategies to reduce costs and constant improvement of processes.
• Familiar with Root Cause Analysis and various techniques to solve problems.
• Based on your continuous analyses, you integrate and execute best practices to improve engineering services.
• Continuous learning and benchmarking with the industry should enable you to develop and implement highest standards at the company.
• Your standard working agenda includes regular presentations to upper management related to overall performance, whilst building and driving applicable action plans.
Experience, Skills and Knowledge:
• Diploma in Mechatronic/Electronic Engineering.
• 510 years experience within a manufacturing environment, with strong exposure to instrumentation, PLCs, SCADA systems, and historians.
• A strong background in instrumentation installation, configuration, calibration and validation.
• Strong working knowledge of ASI, IO Link, Profinet, Siemens TIA Portal, VSDs, Ignition SCADA and SAP.
• Compiling and Reading P&IDs and Wiring diagrams, familiar with E-plan.
• An understanding of Industrial networks & cyber security.
• Created Functional Description Specifications according to requirements.
• Familiar with ISA-88 & ISA95 programming standard, and the implementation and troubleshooting of it.

• You are a strong communicator and fluent in at least English.
• Manufacturing processes & Product knowledge.
