Job Description
Our client is offering a unique opportunity for aspiring individuals to kickstart their career in the welding industry through a fully remote apprenticeship program. This is an exceptional chance to gain hands-on experience and theoretical knowledge in welding techniques from the comfort of your home. While the role is remote, the learning experience will be structured to provide a comprehensive understanding of welding processes, safety protocols, and material science. You will participate in interactive online training modules, virtual workshops, and simulated practical exercises guided by experienced professionals.

The apprenticeship will cover various welding methods, including MIG, TIG, and Stick welding, along with an introduction to blueprint reading and welding metallurgy. You will learn about different types of metals and their properties, as well as the appropriate techniques for joining them. Safety is paramount in welding, and this program will emphasize safe work practices, hazard identification, and the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in simulated environments. Mentorship will be provided throughout the apprenticeship, with regular check-ins and feedback sessions to support your development.

This remote apprenticeship is ideal for highly motivated individuals who are eager to learn and develop a skilled trade. While practical, hands-on training will eventually be required in supervised facilities, the foundational learning and theoretical aspects of this role are delivered remotely. You will need a strong work ethic, a willingness to learn, and the ability to engage actively in a virtual learning environment. Successful completion of this apprenticeship may lead to opportunities for further training and employment with our client or their network.

Responsibilities:
Actively participate in all online training sessions and modules. Complete assigned virtual assignments and projects related to welding techniques. Learn and understand welding theory, including metallurgy and blueprint reading. Study and adhere to welding safety standards and procedures. Develop proficiency in basic welding terminology and processes. Engage with mentors and instructors for guidance and feedback. Maintain a log of learning activities and progress. Prepare for practical assessments (which may require attending specific locations). Develop problem-solving skills related to welding applications. Contribute positively to the remote learning community.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Strong interest in pursuing a career in welding. Ability to learn and retain technical information. Self-motivated and disciplined to succeed in a remote learning environment. Good communication skills for interacting in virtual settings. Basic computer literacy and internet access. Willingness to attend in-person practical training sessions as required. This fully remote position is seeking candidates from across South Africa, with the administrative and learning focus for this role conceptually linked to the Pretoria, Gauteng, ZA region.
