VACANCY: WELDING OPERATOR

We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Welding Operator to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating welding machinery to meet production targets, maintain quality standards, and ensure a safe working environment.

• Ensure all safety standards and procedures are followed

Main Duties

Achievement of Production Requirements
• Operate gas welding machines, including MIG, TIG, and Laser welders
• Set up machines with correct gas, wire, and parameters according to Work Instructions
• Inspect machines before production; report any defects to the Team Leader
• Meet hourly production targets and report any issues affecting output
• Monitor machine performance continuously
• Maintain Route Cards with outputs and rejects
• Clock on/off for jobs and report any machine problems promptly

Quality of Work
• Perform visual checks on all completed assemblies
• Ensure assemblies meet dimensional tolerances using the relevant measuring tools or gauges
• Report any quality issues immediately to the Team Leader
• Clean machines and work areas before and after each shift

Safety Compliance
• Wear appropriate PPE at all times, including goggles, gloves, and welding apron
• Report accidents immediately to the Team Leader, First Aider, or HAS Representative
• Shut down machines when not in use and report any safety concerns promptly

Educational & Training Requirements
• Matric Certificate or N3 Certificate
• Minimum 1 year of experience or training in MIG, TIG, and Laser welding

Prior Knowledge & Experience
• Experience in a factory environment is an advantage
• Basic mechanical fitting ability
• Experience working with steel, aluminized steel, and stainless steel

Core Competencies
• Ability to lift items up to 25kg consistently
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and tolerances
• Ability to work under pressure while maintaining quality output
• Follow verbal and written instructions accurately
• Maintain Route Cards and other relevant documentation
• Dependable work ethic and willingness to learn
• Proficiency in using verniers, tape measures, and gauges
