Looking for welder work in Thailand
From what I've seen over the years, welder jobs in Thailand pop up more than folks expect. Especially around industrial zones and ports. Pay isn't always crazy high but the lifestyle can fit if you're into hands-on stuff.
Thing is you gotta know where to hunt. Bangkok factories need guys for structural work. Then there's the east coast spots near Rayong with all those plants.
Pay ranges that actually show up
Entry level might land around 15k to 20k baht a month. Experienced hands pull 30k or more with overtime. I've talked to a few who clear extra on night shifts.

Big difference when you add housing stipends at some expat friendly sites. Not every place offers it though.
- Oil rig related welding pays better but tougher to land
- Auto parts plants offer steady hours
- Ship repair yards near Chonburi rotate crews often
Honestly the cost of living keeps things doable outside the capital.
How locals and foreigners break in
Thai workers usually start through word of mouth at technical schools. Foreigners lean on agencies or Facebook groups for visa friendly gigs.
Certifications help tons. Stick welding skills get noticed fast in construction heavy areas. And don't sleep on TIG for the precision factory roles.
Real talk though, learning basic Thai opens doors quicker than you'd guess. Even just numbers and safety terms.
Visa stuff no one explains well
Work permits are required. Companies often sponsor if they really need the skill. I've seen non-EU folks get through with solid resumes and references from back home.
Renewals happen yearly. Some jump contracts every 6 months chasing better sites.
Look for listings that mention BOI zones too. Those sometimes fast track paperwork.
Got a buddy who switched from teaching English to welding here. Took him two months and a quick course.
Daily grind on site
Shifts run long in the heat. Safety gear matters more than people admit during monsoon season.
Breaks feel short but food stalls nearby keep you fed cheap. Many teams share stories about previous jobs over lunch.
Not great if you hate standing all day. But satisfying when a weld holds perfect.
Where the work clusters
Industrial estates in Ayutthaya pull steady hires. Map Ta Phut has the big chemical spots needing constant maintenance.
Bangkok outskirts for smaller shops. Pattaya area sometimes has marine welding too.
Check job boards weekly. Things move quick once a project kicks off.
From experience the best gigs come from knowing one person already inside.
