Packing Supervisor - 2nd Shift

Department: Production

Employment Type: Full Time

Location: Vans Kitchen, Dallas, TX

Compensation: $71,000.00 / hour

Description
The Packing Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the packing operations to ensure all finished products are correctly packed, labeled, and prepared for storage or shipment. This role is critical in maintaining product quality, safety standards, and workflow efficiency. This position leads with a positive, team-focused attitude and be able to work collaboratively with employees and leadership across departments.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Supervise all packaging activities during 2nd shift to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality operations.
• Ensure packing lines are properly set up and equipment is operating effectively
• Verify finished goods are accurately counted, labeled, and packed per company standards
• Monitor employees to ensure proper packing procedures are followed and productivity targets are met
• Ensure all packaging materials are available and staged in advance of production
• Maintain packing area cleanliness and ensure end-of-shift sanitation is completed
• Ensure compliance with food safety standards, including GMPs, HACCP, and SQF
• Examine and inspect all items to ensure that quality specifications are upheld
• Ensure product is ready and packed for scheduled production times
• Ensure all finished products are counted and packed in a neat and organized way
• Notifies production management immediately when any sub-standard product quality is encountered
• Perform daily cleaning and sanitation duties throughout the shift
• Ensure a sense of urgency from all packing team members
• Promote and enforce a culture of safety and cleanliness on the floor
• All other duties and responsibilities as assigned
• Support continuous improvement efforts and offer feedback to improve processes and product flow.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Competencies & Skill Requirements
• Knowledge of food packaging equipment and processes
• This position requires the ability to motivate and lead a team, along with strong time management and organizational skills.

Qualifications & Experience
• 1-2 year’s experience in a supervisory or leadership role, required
• Previous baking experience, and knowledge required
• Basic math skills. Must be able to add, multiply, count and verify numbers
• Attention to detail to ensure product quality and accurate documentation
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize work, and respond to real-time production needs
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and solve problems quickly on the floor
• Proficient in basic computer use (Excel, data entry systems, email)

Qualifications & Experience, continued
• High school diploma or GED required
• Ability to train and coach new employees on GMP standards
• Able to read, write, and understand English
• Working knowledge of ERP or production systems (e.g., SAP)
• Experience working on or around food packaging lines is strongly preferred
• Willingness to work 2nd shift and occasional overtime as needed
• Bilingual preferred

Work Environment
• This is a food manufacturing facility. The environment may vary from warm to wet, to cold, to freezing, depending where you are in the plant.
• Must be able to stand, walk, kneel and bend for extended periods of time.
• Occasionally required to balance or climb.
• Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
