Your impact

At Jacobs, we’re challenging today to reinvent tomorrow by solving the world’s most critical problems for thriving cities, resilient environments, and advanced facilities. Join us as a Plumbing Engineer, where you’ll be part of our growing East Cities & Places Mechanical team, contributing to the delivery of complex, high-performance environments that support innovation across life sciences, pharmaceuticals, and advanced manufacturing.

In this role, you’ll support the design and delivery of plumbing and process piping systems for technically demanding facilities such as laboratories, biotech, and pharmaceutical environments. You’ll collaborate across multi-disciplinary teams to develop coordinated, constructible designs and will play a key role in producing high-quality engineering deliverables—from concept design through construction documentation—while ensuring alignment with client objectives and industry standards.

What You’ll Do
• Design and develop plumbing systems including domestic water, sanitary, vent, natural gas, and storm systems.
• Support design of process piping systems for laboratory and life sciences facilities (e.g., lab utilities, specialty water systems, gases, and process waste systems)
• Produce detailed Revit/BIM models and coordinated drawings for construction documents
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, process, and architectural teams to ensure integrated system design
• Participate in project coordination meetings with internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders
• Develop engineering calculations, system layouts, product selections, and specifications
• Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements
• Support multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and quality expectations
• Develop plumbing reports, schematics, and riser diagrams
• Perform Construction Administration duties such as review project submittals, data sheets, RFI’s and site visits.

Here's what you'll need
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline
• 5–10+ years of relevant experience in plumbing and/or process piping design
• Experience in plumbing system design within an MEP or consulting engineering environment
• Exposure to or experience with process piping systems for laboratory, life sciences, or advanced technology facilities
• Proficiency in Revit (BIM) and familiarity with AutoCAD
• Working knowledge of relevant plumbing codes and standards
• Strong communication and collaboration skills in multi-disciplinary project teams

Ideally, You’ll Also Have
• Experience supporting life sciences, biotech, pharmaceutical, or laboratory projects
• Familiarity with specialty systems (e.g., RO/DI water, lab gases, vacuum, process waste)
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or Professional Engineer (PE) license (or in progress)
• Experience developing construction documents and specifications for complex facilities

Our health and welfare benefits are designed to invest in you, and in the things you care about. Your health. Your well-being. Your security. Your future. Employees have access to medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance, a 401(k) plan, and the ability to purchase company stock at a discount. Eligible employees may also enroll in a deferred compensation plan or the Executive Deferral Plan. Jacobs has an unlimited U.S. Personalized Paid Time Off (PPTO) policy for full-time salaried/exempt employees, seven paid holidays, and caregiver leave. And certain roles may be eligible for additional rewards, including merit increases, performance discretionary bonus, and stock.

The base salary range for this position is $91,400.00 to $135,600.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability or protected veteran status. Job posted on May 20, 2026. This position will be open for at least 3 days.

We value collaboration and believe that in-person interactions are crucial for both our culture and client delivery.
