POSITION: PACKAGING SUPERVISOR

About the Position:

The Packaging Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the bakery packaging department to ensure products are packaged efficiently, safely, and according to quality standards. This role manages packaging staff, monitors productivity, ensures compliance with food safety regulations, and coordinates with production teams to maintain smooth workflow and timely order fulfillment.

· Location of position: KwaZulu–Natal

The position will be responsible for but not limited to:

· Utilise knowledge and skills to supervise and control assigned department as determined by the Packaging Manager

· Utilise knowledge and skills to supervise subordinates and assign tasks to ensure that assigned department’s packaging process is effective

· Utilise knowledge and skills to ensure that wrapping and packaging of products are completed within the prescribed time frame as determined by the Packaging Manager

· Monitor subordinates and ensure wrapping and packing numbers are in line with the output determined by the daily production schedule in consultation with the Packaging Manager

· Report matters such as absenteeism, poor work ethic of staff and faulty machinery to the Packaging Manager as soon as possible

· Utilise knowledge and skills to be accountable for all functions and machinery within assigned department

· Utilise knowledge and skills to ensure that packaging is cost effective by keeping wastage to a minimum in consultation with the Packaging Manager

· Fully understand and implement the company’s Food Safety policy and work in conjunction with the Packaging Manager to ensure that high levels of food safety are upheld in the dispatch process

· Fully understand and implement the company’s hygiene and housekeeping policy throughout assigned department

· Ensure that all documentation is completed on a daily/weekly/monthly basis as required by the Packaging Manager

· Monitor and review performance of all subordinates in consultation with the Packaging Manager

To be successful in this role you will need to meet the below minimum requirements:

· Matric.

· Diploma or certificate in Food Technology, Production Management, or a related field (preferred).

· 2–5 years of experience in a bakery, food manufacturing, or packaging environment.

· Previous supervisory or team leadership experience is an advantage.

· Knowledge of food safety standards (HACCP, GMP, hygiene regulations).

· Strong leadership and team management skills.

· Good organizational and problem-solving abilities.

· Ability to work under pressure and meet production deadlines.
