Job Description
POSITIION SUMMARY:

Conducts day-to-day activities pertaining to the checking and packing product for the shipping department. Checks and Packs material accurately and in an efficient manner, all while maintaining a safe and clean work environment.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

In addition to the Responsibilities of "Order checker/Packer":
• Ensures designated equipment is in proper working condition (forklifts, pickers, crane, hand tools, etc.)
• Effectively communicates with department supervisors
• Utilizes Sales Order information to accurately verify recorded information provided by the order puller
• Visually inspects all material to identify any non-conformances
• Packages material securely, ensuring it is protected from any potential damage during transit.
• Properly fills out information required on Sales Order and accompanying forms
• Attend Safety Meetings to identify departmental issues and discuss ways to correct them
• Identifies areas of improvement while maintaining a clean and safe work environment
• Duties are not limited to those described above and may be expanded as needed

INFORMATION AND ACTIVITIES CRITICAL TO PROCESS QUALITY:
• Material Verification and Documentation:
• Visual Inspection
• Heat number(s) of each line item written on the Sales Order
• Sales Order is properly filled out (pulled by, quantities, heat numbers, etc.)
• Photo Verification of Product
• Weights and Dimensions
• Identify non-conformances and notify department leads and shipping supervisor.
• Segregate non-conforming product

DEPARTMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
• Quality Management System (QMS):
• Fully Understands and maintains all expectations listed in the procedures and Work Instructions
• Follow Quality Policy and department processes
• Understands the process of identifying and segregating non-conforming product from good material.
• Safety:
• Utilize all required PPE.
• Maintain a daily checklist on the picker/forklift
• Attend safety meetings
• Maintain clear aisle ways, organized racks, and dock space
• Ongoing responsibility of creating and maintaining a safe work environment.
• Always aware of potential hazards in surrounding area

QUALIFICATIONS
• Speak and read English. Bilingual Spanish a plus
• 1+ years warehouse experience preferred
• Ability to read and understand industry specifications, charts, and tables
• High school diploma or GED
• Basic computer skills. Experience with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook preferred.
• Must have average reading, writing, and mathematical skills.
• Ability to drive forklift and secure certification
• Capable of lifting and stacking objects up to 50 lbs.
• Requires a high level of attention to detail
• Able to handle multiple tasks and priorities
• Able to stand and operate a variety of equipment as assigned
• Takes initiative and can work independently
