Job Description
Spitzer, a recognized industry leader in designing and fabricating high-specification equipment, is currently seeking Vessel Welders to join our team.

What Does a Week in the Life of the Vessel Welder Look Like?
• Understand and follow safety policies and procedures of the shop.
• Conforms to shop quality practices and procedures.
• Experience on Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW/MIG), Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) & Gouge to apply root pass.
• Set up components and weld metal parts together, using both gas welding and any combination of arc welding processes.
• Analyze defective equipment and identify appropriate defective equipment and inform supervisor.
• Weld metal components together to fabricate products according to engineering drawings or work orders.
• Ability to manipulate heat during the welding process to maintain nozzles & couplings to the right level and degrees.
• Ability to know how to adjust min/ max tolerance gaps to start the welding process to maintain the welded components within tolerance.
• Ability to make a full penetration on nozzle to shell that doesn’t require back weld by welding specification.
• Practices good housekeeping skills and properly disposes of metal wastes according to safety and environmental policies.
• Other duties as assigned by the Foreman.

Skills (to Pay the Bills)

Here's a list of a few competencies that the Vessel Welder at Spitzer should have…
• Ability to follow shop procedures, quality procedures and safely practices.
• Must have verbal skills with fluency for the responsibilities assigned.
• Two to four years of experience in welding fabrication of vessels.
• Must be able to read and follow welding procedures.
• Must be able to perform 6G, 6” and 2” 45 degrees weld test.
• Must be required to pass employer performance tests or standard tests to meet certification standards of professional and technical associations.

Work Schedule

Spitzer currently runs two shifts, Monday through Friday with overtime on weekend work as needed. Late afternoon/evening/weekend hours may be required as needed. Work schedules may change to accommodate production needs.
